2010.12월 분명히 출장가는 비행기에서 작업하고
맥북을 대기 모드로 전환시켰는데
호텔방에서 매킨토시를 켜니 배터리를 인식하지 못해서
파워케이블이 없으면 작동을 않는다.

배터리 접촉이상인가 싶어서 배터리도 분리했다가 다시 결합시키고
두세번 재시동을 시켜도 마찬가지이다.
배터리의 충전 상태를 확인하는 버턴을 눌러도 전혀 불이 켜지지 않았다.

화면의 배터리 아이콘이 엑스표가 켜지면서 "배터리가 존재하지 않는다"는 에러 메시지를 보이니
겉은 멀쩡한 배터리가 수명을 다했다고 판단해야 했다.
리튬 이온 폴리머 배터리의 수명은 얼마일까? 3년 반 밖에 안되었는데...

이 기회에 11인치 맥북 에어를 사라는 하늘의 뜻이라고 생각했었지만
가격을 알아보니 2GB 모델이 129만원. 새 배터리는 15만원...
하늘의 뜻이 아니라 악마의 유혹이라는 생각이 든다.

Macbook battery icon has X in it & cord light is always green

Hello,

All I did was click Update when the SMC Firmware window came up, and after that, my battery icon has a permanent X through it and the light on the adapter cord is always green.

If I don't have it plugged in, the macbook doesn't turn on, as if the battery wasn't installed. And of course if the adapter cord is accidently detached, the macbook abruptly turns off.

This macbook is only half a year old and problem-free until now. Not completely sure if it was the update that caused the problem, but coincidence? I think not.

I hate to think I bought a notebook, only to have it plugged in all the time. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, I'm going to give a few tips, which Apple would ask you to try before sending/bringing it in for service. While some of the below may seem unesscessary, I would suggest you go through them, as they will eliminate possible causes of your issue one by one.

If the following does not work for you, I would suggest you call AppleCare. If you do have to call Apple, you'll be able to tell them this list of things you've tried and speed up the process of support.

You will want to print this off to use with your macbook while it's off.

Unplug the power adapter from the electrical outlet and from the MacBook or MacBook Pro. Wait one minute. Plug it back into the wall first, then to the MacBook or MacBook Pro. Make sure the electrical outlet is working by plugging in another device (such as a lamp). When you plug the adapter back into the computer, the power adapter LEDs should light up green or amber.

Inspect the MagSafe port on the computer for debris, such as metal stuck to the magnet in the port, which might prevent the connector from seating properly.

On the adapter side, look at the DC connector for dust or other debris and check whether pins are missing, bent or stuck down. If you find any of these to be true, see article 303240 for instructions on cleaning the adapter.

Disconnect any devices connected to the computer including printers, hubs, and third-party keyboards or mice, and test the computer again by trying to turn it on.

Press the control key, the command key, and the power button simultaneously and hold for three seconds to try to restart the computer.

Reset the PRAM.

Reset the Power Manager.

If the computer is on, turn it off.
Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.
Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.
Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.
Press the Power button to restart the computer.

If you recently installed additional memory, make sure it is correctly installed and is compatible with your computer. Remove the new memory to see if the computer starts up properly without it.
